NORVA supports the Girls of Madagascar

NORVA members voted at the annual meeting to use $1,000.00 of our funds budgeted for overseas projects to fund a GLOW Camp in Madagascar.

The project was nominated for funding by Madagascar RPCV and NORVA member Paul Cook.

Soups of the World is A Huge Success!

Our sincere appreciation to all of the volunteers, donors and attendees of Saturday's Soups of the World Event.   



More than 170 NORVA supporters dined on 18 Soups.  In all, we served over 30 gallons of soup representing Mali, El Salvador, Slovenia, Paraguay, Nepal, Ukraine, India, China, and several Eastern European and American favorites.   The soups won rave reviews for their taste and authenticity.

Soups of the World needs a venue

Do you know a great location to meetup with RPCV's for an evening of fall fun and lots of delicious soup?  NORVA is searching for the perfect venue for our annual fundraiser.  The place should:



-Accommodate 200 people

-Include Tables and Chairs and small presentation space

-Have parking for those people

-Have a kitchen, or at least an area where soup can be prepared with Microwaves and Hotplates.

NORVA helps fund Swim Camp Project in the Philippines

One of NORVA's primary goals is to help support currently serving Northern Ohio Volunteers in the field.  With a donation of $501.00 to this Peace Corps Partnership Project, we were able to complete the funding for this excellent project from volunteer Nehama Rogozen .

Our Second Service Saturday - Building Momentum

10 Northern Ohio RPCV's had a great time today practicing conversation with refugees on Cleveland's Near West Side.

NORVA donates 400 books for a PCV project in the Phillipines

NORVA member and repeat Peace Corps Volunteer Richard Strauss reached out to NORVA during his current stint in the Phillipines.  He had an opportunity for us to provide 400 books for a school he is serving for $100.00.

First "Service Saturday" Success

Thanks to all of the Volunteers at our first Service Saturday!  10 RPCV's helped 18 refugees with simple conversation and cross-cultural practice.  

Volunteers met for a few minutes prior and got pointers and logistics from Amy Moniot.  Once the beneficiaries arrived, things got fun quickly.  Volunteers asked some basic questions provided on index cards to get an idea of the beneficiaries language ability.  Our refugees varied in skill from one man who taught English…

Thanks to NORVA volunteers for participating in Building Hope in the City's Health Cafe

In March Norva Volunteers helped Building Hope in the City by volunteering to staff a health cafe for Nepalese and other immigrants.  We learned a little Nepali, taught a little English, and generally had a nice time visiting with these recent Clevelanders while they waited for their turn at the health screenings.…
