NORVA recently had the opportunity to support a PCPP project led by Seeta Morey, currently serving as a Maternal, Newborn & Child Health Educator Volunteer in Rwanda. We were able to donate to her project, which is now fully funded. Please see her message below:
I hope this email finds you well. I am a Peace Corps VolunteerĀ born in Cleveland and currently serving as a Maternal, Newborn & Child Health Educator in Rwanda. I am reaching out to share a PCPP project I hope to implement here in partnership with local health center staff, Community Health Workers, and families of malnourished children.
After months of home visits, conversations with caregivers, and collaboration with health center staff, we identified addressing the limited access to affordable, protein-rich foods for malnourished children as a priority. In response, we developed a project to establish a poultry farm at the health center that will provide subsidized eggs to malnourished children under five. The project also includes nutrition education and community sensitization activities to promote dietary diversity and the importance of animal protein for child growth.
Stay tuned for more updates on this project!
