Where did you serve and when did you serve in Peace Corps?
Ukraine
What are your interests and how would you like to be involved with NORVA?
I want to stay in contact with RPCVs in my home area and receive help and advice for projects I do in my community here in Ukraine. My end of service date is in June, 2013.
What keeps you busy these days?
I teach English everyday at our small village school here. I conduct English lessons with the teachers at my school on Mondays, and have meetings with staff here to discuss ways to improve our school and our students' education as a whole. Currently we are working on two projects. One is to raise funds to have clean drinking water for our students at school. We hope to do this through appropriateprojects.com. The much larger project is to increase the educational technology at our school through the Peace Corps Partnership Program. I really hope RPCVs can help me with this one, not only by donations, but with other ideas to raise funds. I really think this will be extremely beneficial for our students and teachers!!! :D They have certainly shown eagerness and initiative to begin this project!!!

Hi Rachael,

I hope this finds you well.

I wanted to invite you to NORVA's Soups of the World on November 14. It's going to be an amazing time, and for a great cause (as you well know)! My husband and I are making borsch (we also served in Ukraine), and I know there will be a dozen other awesome soups to try, along with a LOT of local RPCVs. I’d love to see you! You can register here: http://peacecorpsohio.org/page/soups-of-the-world-1

Hope to see you there!

Madeline

I'm from Avon Lake, on the west side of Cleveland. I went to school in DC, though, so I've lived there for about six years.

How's your grant going? I'm fundraising for one, myself. Which group are you in? I'm guess maybe 41? I'm a 39er, so I'll COS in December.

Good luck with the snow - although at least it covers up all the ice!

Hi Rachael!  Thank you for reaching out to us.  I am currently Co-President of NORVA and as you know, we funded $500 to your project.  We sure hope this helps get you started and we are honored to be asked to assist.  Please keep us updated both on this site and on our Facebook page.  Good luck and safe travels!
